Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 1,034
cast ewes & rams and 3,640 store hoggs of all classes at their
Annual sale at Longtown on Tuesday 6th January, 2004.
Store hoggs saw a crowded ring of buyers and met a fast selling trade,
with all classes very dear, peaking at £50.50 for a smart pen
of Texel hoggs from Messrs Watson, Low Lonning.
Ewe hoggs met a wonderful
trade, as the retention deadline approaches, more are required
with a top per head of £65 for Leicesters from Messrs Waugh, The
Row.
With 1,034 cast ewes and rams forward, buyers were present from
a wide area with all classes in strong demand. Top of £67 for
North Country Cheviot rams from Milsington and for Suffolks from
Dryden. Ewes sold to £57 for Suffolks from Middleknowes.
