Longtown Suckled Calf Sale

C & D Auction Marts Limited held their Suckler Calf sale on Saturday 1st October 2016, when a catalogue entry of 839 were sold to a full ringside of bidders, with sale averages pretty similar to last year’s marvellous trade. Cattle were again turned out at a very high standard and vendors were rewarded for the effort.

The show was kindly sponsored by Capontree Vets, and was ably judged by Mr David Anderson, Maryport. The Championship was awarded to WH & DA Gass, Nunscleugh for a Limousin bullock, which realised at £1,260, and bought by Smith Bros., Carnforth. Reserve Champion went to A & JN Story, Newbiggin for a British Blue bullock, making £1,200 and purchased by JC & D Nicholson, Blackford. The cup for the Best Charolais was awarded to WG & HM Kyle, Spoutbank for a bullock, which sold for £1,205.
