Longtown Store Cattle Sale Report

GREAT ANNUAL KIRKCAMBECK SALE

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart plc had forward a catalogue entry of 1,048 head at their Annual Kirkcambeck Sale on Saturday 18th October 2014. 

Most vendors wouldn’t be too different to last year’s outstanding sale averages, which saw the sale average up £11.81, mainly due to the great summer and excellent stockmanship.  Credit must be given to all vendors.

The sale was topped at £1,200 (x2) for Limousin bullocks shown by annual consignors C. Aitchison, 12 Kershopefoot, Newcastleton.  Shorthorn/Blue Grey bullocks topped at £965 also from another annual consignor, M.E. & T.R. & K.M. Wallace, Farneyshield.  Galloway bullocks sold to £1,060 (x5) and £1,000 (x12) from J. Robertson & Son, Becks Farm.
