Christmas Poultry Sale

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their annual Christmas poultry sale of turkeys, geese, chickens and ducks on Monday 21st December 2015. 

A smaller show than expected resulted in a flying trade from start to finish for all classes with oven ready birds seeing a great premium over rough plucked, topping at £120 for a 43lb oven ready turkey, followed at £100, twice, firstly for a 41lb oven ready turkey and secondly for a 30lb oven ready turkey.

Geese were well short of buyers demand and exceptionally dear, topping at £95 for an 8.5lb oven ready goose.  Rough plucked geese topped at £80 for a 17lb goose.

Oven ready turkeys: £120, £100 Basco Dykehead, £100, £82 Game Kennels, £78 Gracemire and Crawcraigs, £75, £72 Crawcraigs, £72 Game Kennels.

Rough plucked turkeys: £68, £52, £48, £46, £45, £42 Crawcraigs.

Oven ready goose: £95, £55, £52, £48, £46, £45 Sandbed.

Rough plucked goose: £80, £68, £45, £42 Mid Forest.

Rough plucked duck: £30, £28, £26, £24 Mid Forest.

Rough plucked chicken: £28, £24, £22 Temple House.

Rough plucked guinea fowl: £14, £12 Mid Forest.
