sold 196 rams of all breeds at the Cydectin Kelso Ram Sales on Friday
14th September 2012.
This year a Kelso ram sales an inaugural show was
held for unregistered Texel shearlings in ring 18.
A large ring
of over 20 shearling rams from consigners of every auction company
were put forward to the judge Mr. Graham Sinclair of Cresswell Farms,
Belford who awarded the championship to Ram number 5481 from Roxburgh
Main (sold through Border Livestock) which went on to realise £1000.
The
second prize tup was awarded to lot 5541 from Shepherds Cottage
(also Border Livestock) which realised £1100.
Finally the
3rd prize went to ram number 5400 from Crumhaughhill (sold by C & D
Farmers Mart) selling at £1400.
The top call of the day for
C & D consignments was £2000
for a Texel shearling consigned by A & HC Smith, Crumhaughhill,
Hawick selling to D & D Aitken, Uppercleugh, Lockerbie. The
Crumhaughhill pen also commanded our top average of £891 for
18 shearlings sold.
