Our experience at Moffat Sheepdog Sale

After Some futile attempts to buy a dog privately from both local and national press, who all claim their dogs would do marvellous things, resulting in always quoting their dogs were worth more than top price auction dogs, we decided to try the Auction Sale at Moffat.

We were impressed with the detail in the catalogue which helped narrow down the selection. As with any auction you could talk to the sellers and most importantly see the dogs run.

Eventually we picked Lassie a 4 Year old bitch from a retiring Shepherd in the Scotch Borders.

Lassie has proved perfect for our need, but as we have no dog kennels due to flooding problems in the farm buildings, Lassie had to live in the house with 2 other collies. Not only are they good guard dogs but companions for my wife. Been so pleased with Lassie, we informed her previous owner of her new home, sending a photo of her in front of the fire.

I would certainly recommend going to the Moffat Dog Sale. It was well organised with a selection from puppies to fully trained trial dogs. You can talk to the sellers, see the dogs run and as with any auction you get a dog at its true value.
